Justice League: Doom is an animated superhero film loosely based on Mark Waid's JLA story arc, "JLA: Tower of Babel". The movie was adapted and written by Dwayne McDuffie right before his death in February 2011, and is directed by Lauren Montgomery. While not a direct sequel to Crisis on Two Earths, the film uses the same character designs by the Lead Character Designer, Phil Bourassa. It will be released on February 28, 2012. The film also features various actors reprising their roles from Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and Green Lantern: Emerald Knights respectively. It is the 13th film in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies line.

Premise[]

When the Justice League stops the Royal Flush Gang during a robbery, they find out with the help of Cyborg that the Gang has been using a technology to walk through walls, and learn that it's not the Gang's technology. While Cyborg starts investigating the technology, Batman retreats to the Batcave. Unseen, Mirror Master (who had been hiding in the Batmobile) uses a LexCorp device to hack into the Batcomputer and downloads crucial information. Bane, Star Sapphire, Metallo, Ma'alefa'ak and Cheetah enter the Hall of Doom, where they are welcomed by Vandal Savage and Mirror Master. Having already given them each $10 million to attend the meeting, Vandal Savage offers an additional $100 million each for killing off each member of the Justice League. His offer is accepted unanimously. Savage then details his "fool-proof" plan to achieve this goal.

Bruce Wayne receives news from Alfred Pennyworth that the bodies of Thomas and Martha Wayne have been stolen. When Bruce confronts the employee who reported the incident, the employee reveals himself as Bane. Bane renders Wayne unconscious and buries him in an empty grave. Bruce Wayne wakes up next to his father's corpse, and forces his way out of the grave. Martian Manhunter celebrates his birthday (in human form) with friends, when he receives a drink from an unknown woman. The "woman" is Ma'alefa'ak in human form. The drink contains a chemical that will force Manhunter into his true form in public, and leave him vulnerable to fire. Ma'alefa'ak then sets Manhunter aflame. Cheetah poisons Wonder Woman with a serum that causes her to hallucinate that everyone is Cheetah. Wonder Woman immediately attacks her "arch-nemesis" everytime she sees "her", until she is restrained by Cyborg. Flash confronts Mirror Master during a train robbery in progress. Mirror Master attaches a device to Flash's wrist: it will detonate if removed or tampered with, or if Flash decelerates.

Green Lantern is called upon by the FBI to capture a group of terrorists hiding in a salt cave. The terrorists have six hostages. After defeating them all and saving the hostages, Green Lantern confronts the boss, who kills Carol Ferris. Grieving over the loss, Hal resigns his Green Lantern status. His uncharacteristic reaction was engineered by Star Sapphire to undermine Jordan's confidence with a fear toxin. The terrorists and the Carol Ferris double were androids. Clark Kent receives a call from Lois Lane, who informs him that Henry Ackerson, a former Daily Planet employee who was laid off, is about to commit suicide. He approaches Henry as Superman, and Henry reveals himself as Metallo. Metallo shoots Superman with a Kryptonion bullet, leaving him fatally wounded. With the Justice League apparently defeated, Savage reveals his plan to kill off half of the human population with the help of a solar flare, and start a new civilization. Savage offers each of the members of the Legion of Doom their own territory if they join him, which they accept.

Batman realizes that all of the members of the Justice League have been defeated by plans he himself had created. One by one he saves them all. The Justice League confronts the Legion of Doom, overpowering everyone including Savage, but are not able to prevent the solar flare. Cyborg deduces that the Hall of Doom would survive the Flare, and the Justice League works from there to prevent damage to the Earth. Vandal Savage is imprisoned for life without parole. The Justice League votes to add Cyborg to their roster. Superman calls for a vote on Batman's continued membership in the Justice League, following the revelation that Batman had developed effective methods to defeat his fellow members. Batman explains that there could come a time when any member could be compromised and turned against the others, requiring working protocols to deal with such a situation. He expresses no regret over his actions and decides to leave the Justice League voluntarily. Realizing that Batman has a point, Superman gives Batman a Kryptonite bullet to be used if Superman ever goes rogue.
